Common help topics

Quick answers to the things people ask us most.

1Understanding your bill credits

Utility Consolidated Billing (IL, NY, MD, VA, NJ)

With U.C.B., your community solar credits appear as a line item on your regular utility bill — typically labeled as “Community Solar Credit” or “CDG Credit.” The credit reduces your total amount due. You still receive one bill from your utility — nothing changes about how you pay. This is the most common billing method across our service areas.

Dual Billing (DE, MA, ME, RI)

Some community solar programs use dual billing. Here's how it works:

  • You continue to receive your regular utility bill from Delmarva Power — but with community solar credits applied, lowering the amount you owe the utility.
  • You also receive a separate monthly statement from your community solar provider. This statement shows the value of the solar credits allocated to you, billed at your discounted rate (typically 10–20% off).
  • You pay two separate bills: your reduced Delmarva Power bill, and your discounted solar provider bill. Combined, the two payments are less than what you would have paid without community solar — that's where your savings come from.

It sounds like extra work, but the total is designed to be lower than your old single bill. If you have questions about how your dual billing is set up, call or email us — we'll walk you through it.

Credits usually start within 1–2 billing cycles after enrollment is complete.

2Credits haven't appeared yet

It can take 1–2 billing cycles for credits to show up after enrollment. If it's been longer than two full cycles since you enrolled, give us a call or email — we'll check your account status with the provider and make sure everything is on track. Don't worry, you won't miss out on credits — they're applied from your enrollment date.

3Updating your information

Moved? Changed your phone number or email? Let us know — call or email with your updated info and we'll get it updated with your provider. Keeping your contact info current ensures you don't miss important updates about your account or savings.

4Canceling your subscription

There are no cancellation fees and no penalties — ever. To cancel, just call or email us and we'll handle it. Your subscription will end at the close of your current billing cycle with the provider. You can also contact your community solar provider directly, but we're happy to manage it for you.

5Referring friends & family

Love the savings? Spread the word! When a neighbor, friend, or family member signs up, just have them mention your name. While we don't have a formal referral program yet, we always appreciate you helping more folks save on their electric bills with clean energy.

6Moving to a new address

If you're moving within the same utility area, we can often transfer your community solar subscription to your new address. Moving out of our service area? No problem — we'll cancel your subscription with no fees. Just give us a heads-up before your move date so we can make the transition smooth.
